zwei.7 celebrates the keystone setting at Mertenshof in Bonn-Graurheindorf.
The historical keystone from 1886 was installed on 11th April 2018 in the presence of numerous guests. The ceremonial act took place roughly five months after the first cut of the spade, and included a speech from amongst others, the mayoress of the municipal district, Brigitta Poppe-Reiners.
When completed at the end of 2019, the residential complex in Graurheindorf, will offer 47 accommodation units in four building complexes; eleven of the apartments will remain the property of the previous owners, descendants of the Mertens family. Thanks to their location in the second row from the bank of the Rhine, the 2 and 4 room apartments provide the freedom to reach the centre of Bonn quickly and at the same time have a quiet retreat.
„“The fact that such housing projects already meet with approval in the construction phase and that there are interested parties is an indication of the growing attractiveness of the districts of Bonn”, says Poppe-Reiners. The housing market remains strained and areas near the Rhine bank in particular are extremely popular. “We believe in the Graurheindorf district and envisage a very positive development. But it is also important to us, that Mertenshof does not appear out of place but instead fuses tradition with the modern age”, Karla Rethmann, project officer at zwei.7 confirmed.
This was reflected in the instalment of the historical keystone that has been in the family’s possession for a century and will grace the entrance in the future. The Velten family, the descendants of the Mertens, are also convinced that the high-quality rental apartments will complement Graurheindorf perfectly.
Another development mayoress Poppe-Reiners welcomes is the project’s sustainability, for example the resource-saving heat generation using water heat pumps.
Soon people interested in the project will be able to keep up to date on construction progress and rental issues on the website www.mertenshof-bonn.de.
